Analyzing your Website's Content 4 comments

Even if the Content is only a part of Search Engine Optimization area of study, it is clearly that the original, solid content is the uppermost part that counts for SEO (we exclude some powerful online services that fall outside this rule). Before starting to talk about what we think a Website Content should be like, you must know that our SEO score gives a high percent to the content of the analyzed domain.

That's why you should think instinctively on your website's pages content: Meta Titles, Meta Descriptions, H1-6 headers, the Content itself and relate all of this to the "Search Queries". And when we say "Search Queries", we refer to all the mixture of words which users insert on Search Engines to land on your pages (your content).

  • Focus on Content

  • On the other side, many of you think exactly the opposite. Some of us (webmasters) choose the keywords, in many cases the most wanted, the most common, on the easiest way possible and then slam 1-3 sentences (in some cases just put them there), we sit down and after a while wonder "Why nobody uses/visits my site? I put the "iPhone" there".
  • … and then what? Many give up, others build some backlinks on pages that nobody heard of, ask their family and friends to visit the website, but what they accomplish? Some weak traffic and irrelevant visitors.
  • … and then what? Many give up, others may be satisfied, others understand the nature of the problem and try to change their “content”!

… from where to start? Start analyzing your page with SeoAnalyser.net online tool, and read the Warnings/Notes that a website might have. After that, on some level, you'll be able to understand some common mistakes. We know that all these recommendations won't work for all website niches (ex: Google, Facebook, top websites), but for most of them it works.

How to create the website content

Working with your pages' content can be one of the difficult things to do. Not all of us are journalists or copywriters, but if we have a good idea on our website direction, the things that make the web page work, what we want it to become and to offer, the targeted audience (by age, area) the nature of the website (small business to blog, marketplace to social network, online store to paid online services, and existing website idea to bright website idea) we are the most appropriate persons to write the right content on our pages. If that is not the case, you may have a problem and should call some specialized individuals/companies to write your content. (Content Outsourcing websites).

If you get the aforesaid idea, we'll simplify it for you and offer two tips:
1. If you are a fresh starting webmaster, who just gives a try to the online world and you don’t have the resources you need, we suggest to combine your ideas with some competitors, therefore resulting an original content.
2. As owner, you can use specialized services, but be sure to check the level of originality, or it could damage your website (we think that the basic ideas have to come from you).

Finding the right keywords for your website

Choosing the appropriate keywords may be a difficult task, depending on many factors (competitors, website’s niche, searches, language, target audience).

For new websites many "SEO experts" suggest to put at least one of your primary keywords on the domain name, but you have to do more to get on top of SERP. Taking in consideration that there are billions of registered domains, it’s hard to find one with your exact matches, so you must change something. A good domain name is the domain name where you can "read the words". Let’s analyze our domain name SEOANALYSER.NET:
1. SEO - It was a must for us and is the abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization.
2. ANALYSER - Of all websites that refer to SEO, we had to differentiate a little. The top priority of our website is the automated free analysis of any website. The main keyword that came to our mind was ANALYZER, but all the combination of this domain names were already purchased. So that’s why we chose ANALYSER - even if it is less used it’s the same with ANALYZER and in the same time it is grammatically correct.
3. [dot]NET tld name – Certainly our first choice was .com, but like many other .com web domains it was already bought. In the same time, we chose .NET because we're building a huge network of SEO through analyzed sites, growing every day.

NOTE: Don’t think that the decision of choosing this domain name was taken in few minutes, it took us some time. You will do the same if you want to create a relevant, valuable and solid website.

Choosing the domain name sometime may be easy, but having the right keywords on the website is another story. We recommend not to focus on a wide range of searches (we believe it’s the most common mistake). Try to concentrate on the exact match of what your pages are about. For example if you have a page about a brand name, we suggest not to use that brand name as keyword (it is very unlikely that somebody will search for "Brand" and then land on your website). Try to combine it with your unique characteristics that you have on the page content (location | abbreviations | details | images | news), something that is common and differentiates you from others.

We know it’s hard, but if you give interest to it or you have a good team behind you, you will surely choose something that will fit exactly in your online project.

What to do with your website Keywords?

  • Assuming that you already know, the "Meta Keywords" from the pages <HEAD> tag are no longer important. So a simple question appears: "Where do I put my page’s keywords?". The answer is very simple: On your page content. If you wonder which is the best way to do this we made a simple, logical order that may help, explained below:
  • 1. In the Meta Title tag from your page <HEAD> - This will not only appear on the top of the web browser but will be visible on the search engines results pages as titles and has a big influence on user click-through. But be aware, this must respect some things like character length, consistency (do not abuse and use too many keywords), originality.
  • 2. In the Meta Description – As above you must respect some rules. The relevance of the page, its originality and the uniqueness of each page is the key.
  • 3. In the heading tags <H#...> - be careful how you organize your content. The headings are the titles for the major content sections of your page. The keywords you put in the heading must be relevant to the text below it.
  • 4. In the HTML elements and text formatting Tags.
  • 5. In other HTML elements that can have attributes – alt (the alternate text for an image) / title (extra information of an element displayed as a tooltip)
  • 6. In your Domain Name – Even if it’s the last on this list, it is one of the most powerful ways to get on top on SERPs. This will only apply if you don’t want to create a brand.

There is very much to be said, but the internet is continuously growing and you will definitely find something that will help you achieve the online success. Also you may want to share your experience by joining the comments bellow.
